What are TikTok Shop video ads?

They are short videos that sell a TikTok Shop product inside the app. Since July 2025 they run through GMV Max campaigns, which build ads from your videos, authorized creator and affiliate posts and your product cards, and show them in the feed, search, the Shop tab and TikTok's ad network.

What is GMV Max on TikTok?

GMV Max is TikTok's campaign type for Shop ads, the default and only one since July 2025. You set an ROI target and a daily budget, and it optimizes for total channel ROI for your shop. Product GMV Max promotes products, and LIVE GMV Max promotes LIVE sessions.

Can I still run Video Shopping Ads on TikTok?

Not for TikTok Shop. With the Sales objective and TikTok Shop as the destination, new Video Shopping, Product Shopping and LIVE Shopping Ads cannot be created or edited since July 2025. Existing ones keep running, and Video Shopping Ads remain available with Showcase as the destination.

Should I use creator (KOL) videos or my own LIVE on TikTok Shop?

For most small sellers, creator videos first. Affiliates are paid commission only on sales and give GMV Max many videos to test, while LIVE needs a host and a schedule. Your bound shop account can go live with no follower minimum, but LIVE GMV Max is listed in Ads Manager only for six Southeast Asian markets.

What video size do TikTok Shop ads need?

Vertical 9:16 at a minimum of 540 by 960 pixels, under 500 MB, with TikTok recommending 720p or higher. Keep text and the product inside the safe zone from TikTok's downloadable templates, and make the point in the first 3 seconds.

Do AI-generated product videos need a label on TikTok?

Yes. TikTok's ads policy requires the AI-generated content label or a clear disclaimer on ads that are generated or significantly edited with AI, and rejects or restricts undisclosed ones. TikTok Shop also requires the product to appear accurately, with AI not changing its size, color or material.

How much should I spend on TikTok Shop ads?

Standard Ads Manager campaigns need a daily budget above $50 per campaign and $20 per ad group. GMV Max asks for an ROI target and a daily budget and recommends a value for each, and TikTok has added a Seller Scale Up mode for smaller budgets. Set the ROI target from your real margin.
