What is the Shotova API?

The Shotova API lets your own software use Shotova tools, such as product photos, model photos, background removal, listing copy and product videos, by sending web requests with an API key. It uses the credits on your Shotova account at the same prices as the website.

Which Shotova plans include the API?

The Pro and Business plans include the Shotova API, and so does any account that has bought a top-up. Free and Starter accounts without a top-up get error 403 with the code plan_required.

How do I get a Shotova API key?

Log in to Shotova, press the round button with your initial at the top right, choose API keys, press Create key, name the key and set its daily credit limit, then press Create. Copy the key straight away, because it is shown only once.

How much does the Shotova API cost?

There is no extra fee for the API. Each call uses the same credits as the same button on shotova.com: 1 credit for most images, 2 for a virtual try-on or a storyboard, and 3 credits a second for video. Checking your account, library and jobs is free.

Can I call the Shotova API from a web page?

No. Browsers are refused on purpose, so a key in a web page cannot be copied by visitors. Call the API from a server or a script you run, and keep the key in an environment variable.

How long does an API request take?

Most images are ready in about a minute. Shotova waits up to about 40 seconds and then answers with a job id, and you collect the result with GET /api/v1/jobs/{id}. Videos take 1 to 3 minutes and films 3 to 10.

What happens if I send the same request twice?

Without an Idempotency-Key header, a repeated request makes a new image and is charged again. With the same Idempotency-Key, Shotova returns the first answer and does not charge twice.

Where do images made with the API appear?

Each answer holds https links to the results. They are also saved to your Shotova account: in your library, on the Your designs page, and on a board for each product photo on shotova.com.
